Some days you wake up ready to go. Other days you would rather stay where it’s comfortable. The difference isn’t the day. The difference is how you start it.
Motivation doesn’t show up on its own. You have to create it. Before class, we follow a simple process that locks us in and gets us ready to perform.
Before anything else, decide why you are here. Not just for exercise or to learn a skill. You are here to build discipline, focus, and the ability to follow through. When you walk into class with that in mind, you are already ahead.
One of the SteelWithin Core Five is water. Drink half your body weight in ounces before the day is done, and get a glass in before you leave for class. Hydration wakes up your system, clears your head, and gives you an edge before the work starts.
Before class starts, do something that signals to your body it’s time to move. This could be a few minutes of stretching, a short walk, or a couple of bodyweight movements. It does not have to be intense. The goal is to flip the switch from idle to active.
If you eat before class, keep it light and clean. Stick to the approved food list: quality proteins, fresh vegetables, clean fats08_FoodList. Avoid sugar, processed snacks, or anything that will spike and crash your energy.
Close the laptop. Silence your phone. Get rid of anything that will pull you out of the moment. For some, it’s a short playlist. For others, it’s sitting quietly for a minute and focusing on breathing. This clears mental clutter so you can focus on the work in front of you.
Integrity is the last of the Core Five, and it might be the most important05_CoreFive. You made a commitment to show up. That means you go whether you feel like it or not. Action comes first. Motivation comes after.
By the time class begins, the hardest part is over. You have already made the decision to show up prepared. Now you get to work, knowing you are building more than skill or fitness. You are building trust in yourself.
Your Word is Steel. Show up like it.
